TUSIAD delegation in The Netherlands - 21 June 2011
A TUSIAD delegation led by Chairperson Ms. Umit Boyner is visiting The Netherlands this week. Their program in The Hague and Rotterdam will include meetings with Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation Mr. Maxime Verhagen; President of the Dutch senate Mr. René van der Linden; the leader of Dutch Christian Democrat Party (CDA) group at House of Representatives Mr. Sybrand van H. Buma as well as the president of the Netherlands Employers Organization VNO-NCW Mr. Bernard Wientjes. The agenda of these meetings focuses on social, political and political dimensions of the bilateral relations as well as the 400. anniversary of the diplomatic ties between The Netherlands Turkey in 2012.
During her talks, Ms. Boyner is emphasizing the significance of Turkey's bid for EU membership and the economic benefits that will accrue to the Union as a result of the accession. Ms. Boyner states that Turkey's dynamic economy and favorable demographic structure will be crucial for the European Union to be more competitive in the global economy. Furthermore, she underlines that the recent political developments in the Middle East have also increased the importance of Turkey for the European Union. TUSIAD's leader is optimistic about the support of the Dutch private sector in Turkey's EU accession process while expressing keen interest in partnerships by Dutch and Turkish companies in the neighboring countries.
TUSIAD chairperson Ms. Boyner and her delegation will attend ‘Holland and Turkey: a sustainable partnership’ seminar jointly organized by ING Bank and Dutch branch organizations Fenedex and FME-CWM.
